HOW OUR GOLF HANDICAP CALCULATOR WORKS

Our free golf handicap calculator was designed to be able to calculate your handicap in seconds. To do so you simply enter the teebox where you typically play from and your typical score.

If you want a more accurate estimate you can also enter up to 20 recent scores.

SHOULD I USE THIS GOLF HANDICAP CALCULATOR?

The calculator was made to be able to give you a quick estimate, but it does not take into account all the details involved in the calculation, as well as the spirit of the handicap system that relies on peer review to ensure a more reliable calculation of the golfers ability.

The peer review is critical to make sure all scores input in the system are accurate

WHY DO I NEED A GOLF HANDICAP TRACKER?

Well for starters every golfer should have a golf handicap. And it should be calculated following all USGA guidelines. With a golf handicap you can compete or bet with your friends trusting that the handicap was calculated accurately.

On top of that having using a golf handicap tracker like TheGrint.com helps you track more aspects of your game and stats that will help you improve your game.

Additionally, is a great way to keep in touch with friends and share golf scores and other golf related activities.

TRACKING YOUR GAME IS EASIER NOW

TheGrint's scorecard picture service is the easiest way to track your handicap. You simply take a picture of your scorecard at the end of your round. Send it to them or upload it using your TheGrint app, and the score is uploaded for you.

Most solutions out there are based on models that are intrusive to your game and are distracting. However, with TheGrint you can track your round with a pencil and a scorecard like you have always done. Then take a picture, send, done. 30 seconds and that's it.

THE LOGIC BEHIND THE CALCULATOR

The calculator uses three main assumptions: 1) Slope and Course ratings for each teebox, 2) a Weight on your typical score and adjustments and 3) Adjustments to your recent scores.

  1. On the Slope and Course ratings, the calculator assumes for the Black tee 130 and 74 for Slope and Course rating, for the Blue tee 125 and 72 for Slope and Course rating, for White 120 and 70 and for Red (Ladies) 125 and 72.
  2. Typical score adjustment, we give more weight to it when there are no recent scores added and less when there are more. We adjust to ~90% because the handicap system consider the 10 best scores of your last 20 and not the average.
  3. Adjustments of recent scores in the same way we adjust the typical score.

MOBILE APP SOLUTIONS

There are many Golfers that prefer to keep track of their golf handicap with their phone. And that is fine as well, it has many advantages. TheGrint also offers Android and iPhone apps that allow the golfers to do just that.

TheGrint app is a great tool because unlike others is very easy to use and it provides you historical data for each hole you play. So you know how good or bad you have done in the past on that hole. How often you hit the fairway, how many penalty shots you get on average, etc.
